For the first two thirds of the book I found this really quite slow and a bit of a struggle to stick with (the only reason I was able to keep going was the fact that it was only a couple of hundred pages long and I felt that I would be giving up too easily if I couldn't finish a book that short). The last third of the book was quite a bit better and more interesting. I intend to read more of Peter Ackroyd's books so I hope that this book is not a sign of things to come or the best of them all. This is simply a blog featuring reviews I've written for books that I've read, every single book I've read in the last three years, plus a few brief notes on books I read before I joined Goodreads (which is when I started to take my reviewing seriously).
